Course Description:

This three-hour training offers an in-depth look at ways to conceptualize complex trauma within the EMDR model.

EMDR therapists work within a framework that often involves complexities throughout a client’s trauma history. This training serves to develop an understanding of case conceptualization within the context of EMDR therapy by differentiating single and complex trauma symptoms. By thoroughly identifying goals, organizing client’s presenting symptoms, and developing an appropriate treatment plan, clinicians will develop a clear understanding of how to navigate complex trauma within the EMDR model. 


Content / Learning Objectives:  

  1. Identify single and complex trauma symptoms by identifying client goals, presenting symptoms, and past trauma history.
  2. Describe how to conceptualize complex trauma through an EMDR lens
  3. Describe various ways to break down a complex case and conceptualize an appropriate treatment plan using EMDR therapy.

Additional Information:

  • This workshop is intended for licensed mental health therapists who have completed an EMDRIA approved basic training. Skill level: Beginner/Intermediate. 
  • Prerequisite for EMDRIA CEUs: Participants must have completed an EMDRIA Approved Basic training in EMDR (both Part I and Part II)
  • Certificates are awarded online after completion of the workshop - Participants print their own certificate after registering at ce-classes.com, entering a keycode, and completing an evaluation form.
  • Licensed Professionals should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval
  • There is no known commercial support for this program.

Denise Migliorini

LCSW-C, EMDRIA Approved Consultant


Denise Migliorini is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LSCW-C) with extensive background in working with trauma survivors individually and within families. Denise is a Certified EMDR therapist that integrates a variety of modalities to meet her client’s needs.

Through her practice, Denise works alongside her clients on their healing journey using techniques from mindfulness, experiential practices, Internal Family Systems, and Instinctual Trauma Response (ITR).

Denise provides a safe space to address symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions. Denise offers individual supervision, group supervision, and is an EMDRIA Consultant.

Nina Davey

LCPC, ATR-BC, PMH-C, ACS, EMDRIA Approved Consultant

Nina Davey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Registered, Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), and holds a certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). Nina has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Nina is a Certified EMDR Therapist and an Approved EMDR Consultant. She uses a variety of treatment modalities through a trauma-informed perspective, including Art Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, and Sand Tray Therapy.

Nina has extensive training in trauma (PTSD) and childhood abuse and has a particular interest working with women’s issues around Perinatal and Postpartum support. Nina is an Approved Credentialed Supervisor (ACS) for LGPC clinicians as well as an Approved Supervisor for Art Therapists.
